Ipoh police appeal for information on a viral cable theft video from a residential area, with an investigation now underway.

IPOH: Police are seeking public assistance regarding a suspected cable theft incident at a residential area in Jalan Pakatan Jaya, Taman Pakatan Jaya.

The case came to light after a video of the alleged theft went viral on social media.

Ipoh police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police discovered the video on TikTok, uploaded by the account Utusan Melayu Plus (@utusanmelayuplusofficial) around 11 am.

He stated that the suspects are believed to have used a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a multi-purpose vehicle to pull the cables at the scene.

Police have opened an investigation paper and the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.

Najib also advised the public not to speculate on the case as it could affect the ongoing investigations.
