Perak police confiscated 20.2kg of ketamine worth over RM1 million from a beach on Pulau Pangkor following a public tip-off.

PULAU PANGKOR: Police have seized 20.2 kilogrammes of ketamine valued at over RM1 million from a beach on the island.

The discovery was made at Pasir Bogak beach following a public tip-off.

A team from the Manjung district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Pangkor police station found the drugs in a gunny sack around 9 pm.

An inspection revealed 20 plastic packets believed to contain the illicit substance.

No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure so far.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

This section carries the death penalty, life imprisonment, and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Police have urged the public with information to contact the NCID hotline at 012-2087222.
