A pregnant woman’s queue-cutting incident sparks discussion on courtesy and public etiquette.

WHEN it comes to pregnancy in public spaces, courtesy isn’t automatic – and not every bump commands the same reaction.

Eight months pregnant and desperate for the toilet, @ricahnry says she still waited her turn.

“That day at the Imago basement toilets, I was already in the queue, waiting my turn. Eight months pregnant, bladder screaming, back aching but still, I queued like everyone else.”

Then another woman, “holding her stomach, clearly pregnant too”, walked up and “without asking, she slowly moved forward and cut the queue. Right in front of me.”

“And then she had the audacity to pull a face as well. So annoying,” she added.

Her post drew mixed reactions.

@moy.lxy wrote, “Relatable. During my pregnancy, I encountered a few instances where some women were not particularly courteous.”

She recalled being bumped without apology, but also shared a different moment at KLIA when “a Chinese tourist kindly allowed me to go ahead after someone cut the queue”, calling it “a simple yet thoughtful gesture that meant a lot to me.”

Others pointed to context.

“Not everyone’s bump size is the same,” said @clxrxcxw. “I was nine months pregnant but my bump was small… and I couldn’t hold my bladder at all during that time.”

Still, some were firm.

@jerrywongts wrote, “Pregnant or not, that woman clearly has no basic courtesy… It’s not difficult to open your mouth and ask for permission.”

@missriyyy added, “Sometimes people like this don’t realise they’re giving pregnant women a bad image.”

Meanwhile, @nish_aella said she always queues but is often directed to use the disabled toilet, and @qatalyts suggested, “Maybe it was her first pregnancy, so she wanted to feel that ‘privilege’.”
