Malaysia’s migrant repatriation scheme has collected RM88 million from 177,000 registrations, with over 100,000 undocumented migrants sent home.

PUTRAJAYA: The voluntary Migrant Repatriation Programme 2.0 (PRM 2.0) has generated over RM88 million in revenue for the government as of February 23.

Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban revealed the programme has recorded 177,000 registrations, with more than 100,000 undocumented migrants already repatriated.

“This programme is still ongoing and has contributed significantly to government revenue,” he told reporters at the Immigration Department’s Semarak Ramadan programme.

He said discussions are ongoing at the ministry level regarding whether to continue or conclude the programme in April.

Zakaria noted public response has increased, particularly during Ramadan and the approaching Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“We no longer require appointments for registration…walk-ins are now accepted,” he added.

He clarified that the programme’s accessibility is not limited to the Klang Valley region.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail previously announced the government approved an extension for PRM 2.0.

The programme now runs from May 19, 2025, to April 30, 2026, covering Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

Under its terms, a RM500 compound is imposed for entering or staying without a valid pass.

A separate RM300 compound is levied for violations of pass conditions.

PRM 2.0 is a voluntary amnesty scheme offering exemption from prosecution to illegal immigrants.

It allows individuals to regularise their status through the payment of specified compounds for offences.
