
The Pahang social welfare department provides immediate aid and psychological support to children affected by a fatal house fire in Kampung Pamah Kulat.
RAUB: The Pahang Department of Social Welfare (JKM) has provided initial support to reduce trauma for children affected by a fatal house fire in Kampung Pamah Kulat, Dong.
Its director, Khairul Amri Ahmad, said his team conducted visits, monitoring, and investigations at the scene.
“JKM counsellors have also provided initial psychological support to reduce their (children’s) trauma,” he said.
JKM also gave RM2,000 in immediate assistance from the state’s District Disaster Fund to the victims’ next of kin.
Additional aid, including mats, blankets, and hygiene kits, will be provided after the burial process is completed.
The fire claimed the lives of Mohd Alawi Muhammad, 56, and Zaleha Adam @ Ibrahim, 44, along with their three daughters aged 17, 14, and 10.
Two other children, aged 19 and 15, were not at home as they were staying at their respective school dormitories.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said the fire destroyed the house and damaged three cars and three motorcycles.
