The National Institute of Entrepreneurship allocates RM89 million for a digital training programme to enhance e-commerce skills and business transformation among entrepreneurs.

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN) has allocated RM89 million to strengthen the digitalisation of entrepreneurs.

Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the funding is for the INSKEN Individual Training and Guidance (Bangkit) Programme.

He said the mentor-mentee programme aims to enhance digital literacy and expedite business transformation, especially in e-commerce.

“We will provide them with a series of courses, seminars and workshops to enhance digital literacy,” he said in Parliament.

Mohamad added the programme’s effectiveness is proven as entrepreneurs’ sales revenue soared after digital exposure.

He was replying to a supplementary question on INSKEN’s role in improving entrepreneurs’ development and digitalisation.

On the Biaya Ramadan dan Perniagaan Rakyat (BARAKAT) scheme, Mohamad said 2,204 applications had been approved nationwide as of Sunday.

This involved financing of RM29.9 million.

He added about 500 more applications, involving nearly RM5 million, are being processed and expected for approval soon.

Replying to another question on Bumiputera economic control, Mohamad said their involvement in MSMEs will be strengthened through digitalisation programmes.

He cited the MyMail platform, which has generated almost RM30 million in sales revenue thus far.

Mohamad said the ministry will ensure Bumiputera entrepreneurs’ rights and interests remain guaranteed through plans like PuTERA35.

He said efforts to empower Bumiputera entrepreneurs in innovation and digitalisation will continue via an integrated approach.

This effort is in tandem with the 13th Malaysia Plan and the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035.
