Russia’s FSB says Ukrainian forces exploit soldiers’ Telegram posts, creating life-threatening risks over the past three months.
MOSCOW: Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has issued a stark warning about the use of Telegram by its troops in the combat zone. The agency stated that such use has repeatedly created threats to the lives of Russian soldiers over the past three months.
The FSB told RIA Novosti it possesses reliable data indicating Ukrainian armed forces and special services can intercept information from the platform. This intelligence is then used for military purposes against Russian personnel.
“As a result of the analysis of Telegram, we have obtained reliable data indicating that its use by military personnel of the Russian armed forces in the area of the special military operation over the past three months has repeatedly led to a threat to the lives of military personnel,” the security service’s statement read.
The warning highlights ongoing concerns over operational security and digital communication on the modern battlefield. It underscores the risks posed by seemingly informal messaging, even on encrypted platforms, when used in active conflict areas.
