Police will call 14 more individuals for questioning in a national stability sabotage probe, while also investigating Bloomberg over an article on Azam Baki.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are expanding their investigation into an alleged plot to sabotage national stability. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said 14 more individuals will be called to have their statements recorded.

This follows statements already taken from 14 other individuals in the probe, which involves influential figures and foreign media. Mohd Khalid said police are studying the gathered statements and continuing their investigations.

“We are still studying and conducting other investigations and we may take the statements of several more individuals,” he said at a press conference at Bukit Aman. He added that once complete, the investigation papers will be submitted to the Attorney General.

When asked if Toh Puan Nai’mah Khalid was on the list, the IGP declined to confirm. He stated he did not want to detail any individuals while the investigation was ongoing.

In a separate development, police have begun an investigation into international news portal Bloomberg. The probe concerns an article published by the portal on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki’s share ownership and issues of corporate manipulation.

Mohd Khalid said an investigation team visited Bloomberg’s office at the Petronas Towers to meet staff for documentation. He said the investigation found the main individuals directly related to the writing are based abroad.

“For further action we will work through G2G (government-to-government) or agency-to-agency to obtain cooperation from the relevant parties,” he said.
