Selangor’s care economy stakeholders gathered to shape 2026 initiatives, launching new guidelines for care centres and a fraud prevention PSA.

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state government has convened stakeholders to drive the development of its care economy. The Selangor Care Network Townhall, organised by Wanita Berdaya Selangor, brought together over 80 operators and association representatives.

State Women Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari (pic) said the session reviewed past initiatives and outlined plans for 2026. A key outcome was the approval of new Guidelines for Care Centres and Nursing Homes for the Elderly, Children and Persons with Disabilities.

The guidelines were approved at a recent State Executive Council meeting. The townhall also featured a dedicated two-way dialogue for stakeholders to share challenges and practical experiences.

“The townhall also provided a platform for a two-way dialogue, allowing stakeholders to highlight real challenges on the ground, share practical experiences and discuss solutions,” Anfaal said in a statement.

She added that the 2026 initiatives directly address concerns raised by operators in previous sessions. The programme included a public service announcement video on fraud prevention produced with the Selangor Social Welfare Department.

The video aims to warn the public against scams using welfare-related names. Anfaal stated the townhall equipped attendees with knowledge and strategies to enhance service quality.

It also aimed to strengthen professional networks within the industry. The initiative seeks to support the continued growth of Selangor’s care economy sector.
