Singapore authorities confiscated over 240 e-vaporisers and components in a four-day operation, with more than half of the cases involving short-term visitors.

SINGAPORE: The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) seized more than 240 e-vaporisers and related components in a four-day operation between March 24 and 27.

The authority detected 42 cases of travellers in possession of the prohibited items or who voluntarily disposed of them.

Short-term visitors accounted for 52% of the cases, while Singapore residents made up the remaining 48%.

These residents included citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders.

The ICA stated it continues to support whole-of-government efforts against e-vaporisers through stepped-up checks.

These checks are conducted at Singapore’s air, land, and sea checkpoints.

“They aim to detect and deter attempts to smuggle e-vaporisers into Singapore,” the authority said in a Facebook post.

“ICA remains committed to securing our borders against undesirable persons, cargo and vehicles, including attempts to smuggle e-vaporisers.”
