SOCSO’s 2025 benefits surged 8.3% to RM6.65 billion, reaching over 1.15 million recipients as Malaysia’s social safety net expands.

SUNGAI BULOH: The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) distributed RM6.65 billion in benefits to more than 1.15 million recipients nationwide last year.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the encouraging outcome demonstrated the country’s increasingly strong and inclusive social protection framework.

“This represents an 8.34% increase, while the number of recipients rose by around 5.06% compared with the previous year,” he said.

He added that seeing more people contributing was the most important thing.

Ramanan expressed pride in SOCSO’s management for their key role in achieving this milestone after officiating the KESUMA SOCSO LINDUNG 2026 Chinese New Year reception.

The event was attended by almost 7,000 people.

According to Ramanan, the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) remains committed to delivering quality services through SOCSO.

He said the ministry had planned three policy reform measures to be implemented this year to maintain a dynamic social security system.

“The first measure is LINDUNG 24 Jam, so protection does not end after office hours,” he stated.

The second initiative is the enforcement of the Gig Workers Act 2025, which provides protection for young people in flexible work.

The third reform is the Traveller Scheme for LINDUNG Kendiri contributors, expected to be fully implemented this year.

Regarding today’s event, Ramanan said 15 contributors and their heirs received SOCSO benefits totalling RM318,042.84.

The recipients comprised six LINDUNG Pekerja, four LINDUNG Kerjaya, three LINDUNG Kendiri, and two LINDUNG Kasih beneficiaries.

He added that 100 orphans received angpao, while 40 widow and widower contributors were presented with hampers.

Social commitment was extended through contributions to 10 NGOs and welfare bodies around Sungai Buloh.

Each organisation received RM10,000 to help support their operations in serving the community.
