A soldier’s wife discovered her husband died in a crash after a stranger messaged her on Facebook, shattering their Raya reunion plans
BANDAR PERMAISURI: A soldier’s wife learned of her husband’s death in a four-vehicle crash through a social media message.
Nor Fatin Mohd Azhar, 36, said she was shocked to find a message from an unknown user on Facebook about the tragedy involving her husband, Mohamad Shakiran Saidi.
She rushed to Setiu Hospital where the death of Mohamad Shakiran and another soldier, Muhammad Aminuddin Amran, 21, was confirmed.
The fatal accident occurred at Kilometre 70 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu.
A grief-stricken Nor Fatin said her husband’s wish to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in their hometown would now never be realised.
“He was very eager to return home and was excited for us to wear matching red-themed outfits for Hari Raya,” she said.
She added he had bought the clothes himself, which were found in the car involved in the accident.
In the days before the crash, Mohamad Shakiran had repeatedly mentioned looking forward to seeing their eight-month-old youngest child.
Nor Fatin said they had lived apart for nearly 11 years due to work commitments.
She never expected their long-awaited plans to finally live together would end in tragedy.
