A 32-year-old stepfather was arrested and charged under the Child Act 2001 after a shocking abuse video went viral
PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a 32-year-old man, believed to have abused his stepchild, on Dec 20, 2025, and was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Court six days later, on Dec 26.
In a statement today, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus (pic) said police received a report on Dec 19, 2025 from the victim’s mother, a 27-year-old woman, after she discovered several recordings showing the abuse at their residence in Setapak.
“The complainant had viewed several video recordings showing the suspect committing both mental and physical abuse against the victim.
“The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001,” he added.
Fadil has urged the public to report any cases of child abuse immediately.
He said those with information or inquiries can contact the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2115 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
Earlier, a viral video showing a child being physically and mentally abused by the account capricedaddycap across several social media platforms, showed a man hitting, kicking, and forcing a child to run back and forth repeatedly.
The footage lasted around two minutes.
