Sungei Wang Plaza celebrates Hari Raya with month-long lifestyle campaign in support of Visit Malaysia 2026
Hari Raya arrives in Kuala Lumpur not just with lights and music, but with memory. At Sungei Wang Plaza, that memory takes shape as Glow Up Raya, a month-long celebration running until March 29 in support of Tourism Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative.
Stepping into the mall’s Centre Court and Main Entrance, visitors are greeted by a kampung-inspired installation that blends heritage with the modern pulse of the city. A large-scale wooden house facade, detailed with batik motifs and festive accents, stands against subtle hints of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline. The contrast feels intentional – tradition anchored within urban movement.
Overhead, flowing batik fabrics form a canopy of colour, while weaving-inspired décor and a batik loom pay tribute to Malaysia’s textile heritage. Warm lights soften the space, creating a setting that invites family portraits, reunions and unhurried moments. The installation captures the essence of balik kampung nostalgia, reframed for a contemporary audience.
Sungei Wang Plaza general manager Joseph Teo said the campaign aims to immerse visitors in the warmth of a traditional Raya celebration while reflecting today’s vibrant lifestyle. The message is clear. Raya here is not only about retail, but about cultural expression and shared experience.
Music takes centre stage

The campaign culminates in the Glow Up Raya Musical Showcase on March 29 at Centre Court, positioned as the grand finale of the festivities. Presented in partnership with Era FM, the showcase brings together shoppers, fans and tourists for an afternoon of live entertainment.
Hosted by Era FM announcer Sha Sha, the event features a line-up of Malaysian artistes, including Mimifly, Aufa Hanie, Zubir Khan and Ammar Haikal. Contemporary Raya hits and familiar crowd-favourites are expected to draw strong footfall, transforming the mall into a festive gathering point.
More than a performance slot, the showcase functions as a communal moment. Families sing along, youths capture social media snippets and visitors experience Raya in a format that feels both celebratory and accessible.
Cultural showcases, festive energy

Beyond the headline concert, Glow Up Raya unfolds through a full calendar of programmes.
This Sunday (March 15), the Persatuan Pencinta Ukulele Showcase introduced a lighter, communal sound to the mall’s atmosphere.
As the campaign builds momentum, Beats on Stage Concert 2026 and Suara Kita Raya on March 28 add further musical energy ahead of the finale.
Traditional performances anchor the celebration throughout the month. Cultural dance performances by Aswara alumni take place on Saturday (March 14), March 21 and 28, while Tarian Kebudayaan sessions supported by Tourism Malaysia occur on Saturday (March 14) and March 28. These performances offer a visual reminder of Malaysia’s diverse artistic traditions, presented within a retail environment that increasingly functions as a lifestyle space.
For families, the Ketupat Mascot Walkabout on March 21, 22 and 23 adds a playful dimension, creating interactive moments and photo opportunities across the mall.
Hands-on workshops, festive bazaar

Those seeking a more tactile experience can join the Raya Miniature Workshop by MinNature Malaysia, held at Jumpa on selected dates. Designed to be beginner-friendly, the sessions allow participants to assemble and decorate festive-themed miniature scenes. The activity encourages parent-child bonding while spotlighting craftsmanship in a different form.
At the heart of the campaign sits the Glow Up Raya Bazaar. The marketplace gathers local entrepreneurs, festive vendors and specialty brands offering Raya essentials and curated finds. Positioned within the kampung-inspired décor, the bazaar becomes both a shopping destination and social space.
Shop and redeem

Festive shopping comes with added rewards. With a minimum spend of RM80 in a maximum of two receipts, shoppers can redeem a Glowing Raya Packet. Those who spend RM250 in a maximum of two receipts are eligible for a Gleaming Raya Tiffin.
CapitaPlus members who spend RM350 in a maximum of two receipts can redeem a CapitaPlus Exclusive Cookie Jar, available while stocks last. The redemption programme reinforces the mall’s positioning as a lifestyle destination that pairs retail with experience.
Giving back this Ramadan
Glow Up Raya also extends beyond celebration through Raya Give and Glow. Shoppers are encouraged to donate pre-loved clothing at designated bins located at the thrifting hub on the second floor. Donors receive discount vouchers from participating thrift stores, while collected items are distributed to refugee communities in collaboration with United Arakan Institute Malaysia.
On March 11, Sungei Wang Plaza hosts a berbuka puasa session with Pusat Gelendangan Anjung Kembara, bringing staff, tenants and community members together for a shared meal during Ramadan. The initiative reflects the campaign’s broader intention – to balance festivity with compassion.
Chairman Ng Yih Chen noted that as the mall supports Visit Malaysia 2026, Glow Up Raya strengthens its role as a cultural and tourism landmark in Kuala Lumpur. The emphasis, he adds, is on unity, celebration and giving back.
Month of memory-making
In the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Raya glows a little brighter this year – not only through lights and music, but through moments shared. From batik-draped installations to live concerts, workshops and community outreach, Sungei Wang Plaza’s Glow Up Raya reframes the festive season as more than a shopping period. It becomes a meeting point where heritage meets city life, where performance meets participation and where celebration meets purpose.
