
MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in most states until 6 pm today, affecting many districts nationwide.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for most states nationwide.
Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to persist until 6 pm today.
In the north, affected areas in Kedah include Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
The warning for Penang covers Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan.
In Perak, the districts involved are Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar.
On the east coast, the whole of Pahang is expected to be affected.
In Terengganu, the warning covers Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman.
Kelantan’s affected area is Gua Musang.
Similar conditions are forecast in Johor, affecting Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.
The entire states of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka are also under warning.
The whole of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are predicted to experience the same weather conditions.
In East Malaysia, Limbang in Sarawak is affected.
In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior areas of Nabawan and Keningau.
The Tawau division, including Tawau and Lahad Datu, is also affected.
The Kudat division, specifically Pitas, is included in the warning.
MetMalaysia issued the alert at 2.30 pm.
