Telekom Malaysia asserts its termination notice for the 5G wholesale agreement is valid, reserving all rights as DNB disputes the move.

KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has upheld its termination notice for the existing 5G wholesale network access arrangement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB).

In a statement, TM stressed the termination remains valid, reserving all its contractual rights. The company said it exercised its rights under the 5G access agreement in strict compliance with conditions governing early termination.

These requirements are related to the implementation of the 5G dual network model. “This decision was made following a thorough analysis of all legal rights and obligations as per the AA,” said TM.

The telecommunications giant stated the agreement provides mechanisms for resolving any differences in interpretation. “TM will pursue the appropriate processes under the agreement,” it added.

Its priority remains ensuring uninterrupted service for customers during a phased and orderly transition. It was previously reported that DNB rejected TM’s termination notice.

DNB stated the long-term contract remains valid and enforceable until October 2032. The state-owned entity clarified that TM had not exercised its right for early termination in accordance with the agreement’s specific conditions.

DNB was established in March 2021 to drive the development of 5G infrastructure in Malaysia.
