Igor Tudor takes charge at Tottenham until the summer, tasked with reviving a struggling side just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.
TOTTENHAM Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Igor Tudor as their interim manager until the end of the season. The Croatian replaces the sacked Thomas Frank, with the club languishing just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.
Tudor and the club’s hierarchy reached a verbal agreement on Friday before finalising the deal. “It is an honour to join this club at an important moment,” the new manager said.
“I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.” He added that his job is to organise and energise a squad he believes possesses strong quality.
The 47-year-old arrives after being dismissed by Juventus in October. He had initially impressed in Turin, guiding them to a fourth-place finish in the 2024-25 season after losing just one of his first 11 games.
His second season proved disastrous, culminating in his sacking after an eight-match winless run left Juventus eighth in Serie A. Tudor’s extensive managerial career also includes spells at Lazio, Marseille, Verona, Hajduk Split, Galatasaray and Udinese.
He inherits a mess from predecessor Thomas Frank, who was fired one day after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle. Frank was removed after a miserable run of just two wins in 17 Premier League games following his appointment last year.
Tottenham’s players have been given time off until Monday as the club has no fixture this weekend following their FA Cup exit in January. The move for a temporary boss mirrors the recent approach of Manchester United, who hired Michael Carrick on an interim basis.
Prior to agreeing terms with Tudor, Tottenham had been linked with former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic and ex-RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose. Candidates for the permanent role are expected to include former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino after his World Cup commitments with the United States in June and July.
Tudor’s first match in charge will be a daunting north London derby at home to Premier League leaders Arsenal on February 22.
