Tottenham keeper Antonin Kinsky vows to bounce back after nightmare Champions League debut as Spurs suffer 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid

TOTTENHAM goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has vowed to bounce back from his “nightmare” after being hauled off by Igor Tudor just 17 minutes into his Champions League debut against Atletico Madrid.

Interim Spurs boss Tudor dropped regular number one Guglielmo Vicario in favour of the 22-year-old Czech for Tuesday’s 5-2 defeat in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

But Tudor quickly backtracked after Kinsky botched two clearances to hand Atletico goals through Marcos Llorente and Julian Alvarez in a disastrous Spurs start.

In between the goalkeeper’s two moments to forget, Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven also slipped to gift Antoine Griezmann Atletico’s second goal.

“Thanks for the messages,” Kinsky posted on Instagram. “From dream to nightmare to dream again. See you.”

Kinsky joined Tottenham from Slavia Prague in January last year.

The majority of his 13 appearances for the club came during an injury lay-off for Vicario soon after his move to London.

Manchester United and Denmark great Peter Schmeichel said Tudor had “killed Kinsky’s career”.

But Spurs centre-back Kevin Danso backed Kinsky to recover.

“It’s a difficult situation but we as a team will definitely get around him,” said Danso.

“These things happen. Unfortunately it happened to him, but he’s a great goalkeeper and he’s definitely going to bounce back.”
