WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump does not want any further strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure following Israel’s attack on the South Pars gas field, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The report, citing US officials, stated that Trump was aware of the Israeli strike in advance. He supported it as a message to Tehran over its blocking of the Strait of Hormuz.
However, the Journal said Trump could again be open to targeting more Iranian energy facilities. This would depend on Tehran’s future actions in the critical waterway.
Reuters could not immediately verify the report.
