UAE authorities warn residents of a potential missile threat, while major airports resume partial operations with restricted access for passengers.

DUBAI: Authorities in the United Arab Emirates issued a mobile alert on Sunday warning residents of a potential missile threat and urging them to seek immediate shelter.

The alert from the UAE Ministry of Interior advised people to seek refuge in the nearest secure building and stay away from windows, doors and open areas.

The public was also instructed to await further official instructions and follow updates.

Meanwhile, airports across the UAE partially resumed flight operations on Sunday following a temporary suspension the previous day.

Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports have resumed limited operations, while airports in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are operating a reduced number of flights.

Access to all terminals is currently restricted to passengers with confirmed bookings only, according to airport authorities.

Major UAE carriers including Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai and Air Arabia have resumed a limited number of flights.

The airlines have advised all passengers to check their flight status as schedules remain subject to change.

Flight operations at several UAE airports were temporarily suspended on Saturday due to regional security concerns but gradually resumed later that day.

The Chinese Consulate General in Dubai confirmed that several airlines are preparing to resume flights between Dubai and cities in China to assist stranded passengers.

Airlines including Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Emirates are preparing flights to cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Several confirmed flights between Dubai and China are scheduled to operate on March 8.
