British police are assessing whether Jeffrey Epstein used Stansted Airport for trafficking, as a national coordination group supports investigations into his UK ties.
LONDON: British police are examining whether the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein trafficked women through London’s Stansted Airport on private flights. This assessment forms part of a nationally coordinated effort to investigate Epstein’s connections to Britain.
Essex Police confirmed they are reviewing information about private flights at Stansted following the U.S. government’s release of millions of Epstein documents in late January. The force clarified this is an assessment, not a full criminal investigation.
The National Police Chiefs’ Council established a coordination group to support individual police forces examining Epstein’s ties to the UK. “We continue to work collaboratively to assess the details being made public,” the NPCC stated.

The scandal has significantly impacted Britain, with two police forces investigating high-profile figures. Former British ambassador to the U.S. Peter Mandelson and King Charles’s brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, face probes over alleged misconduct in public office.
Epstein files suggested both men forwarded confidential government documents to the financier. Both have denied wrongdoing and expressed regret over their friendships with Epstein but have not commented on the latest document releases.
A BBC report last year indicated incomplete flight logs showed 87 Epstein-linked flights at UK airports between the early 1990s and 2018. Unidentified “females” were listed among passengers on these flights.
The recently released files contain multiple references to Stansted Airport and UK visas. One document discussed whether a Russian woman with a U.S. visa could switch planes at the London airport.
Stansted Airport stated that private flight operations are not managed by its terminal operator. Border Force maintains responsibility for all immigration and customs checks on arrivals.
According to Border Force regulations, all individuals entering Britain undergo thorough checks upon arrival.
