KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The 2025 Umno General Assembly scheduled for Nov 26 to 29, has been postponed to Jan 14 to 17 next year.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki explained that the rescheduling follows a clash with the 17th Sabah State Election, which will take place from Nov 15 to 29, as announced by the Election Commission (SPR).

“With this postponement, it is hoped that Umno leadership and machinery nationwide can fully focus their energy and efforts on supporting Barisan Nasional Sabah to regain the trust of the people.

“This will enable Barisan Nasional to lead the government for the wellbeing of the Sabahans,” he said in a statement.

Prior to this, the Umno General Assembly, initially planned for August, had already been postponed to late November to accommodate preparations for the Sabah state polls. — Bernama
