Latest smartphone shows off telephoto zoom, AI tools, sleek aluminium design
vivo Malaysia has launched the vivo V70, introducing its latest camera-focused smartphone built around portrait photography, zoom imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) features.
The launch brought together media members, creators and technology partners for a first look at the device, with demonstrations highlighting its photography capabilities and new AI tools.
The presentation opened with remarks from vivo Malaysia CEO Mike Xu, who said the V series has built its reputation in the country through a focus on design and photography.

“The vivo V70 offers a better user experience with a better look, better photography and better overall performance,” he said.
During the launch, product specialists walked attendees through the device’s camera system and software features, while live demonstrations showed how the phone captures stage performances and portrait shots under challenging lighting conditions.
A photography showcase at the venue also displayed sample images taken with the device, including portraits and stage shots captured using the phone’s telephoto lens.
Camera built for distance and portraits
The vivo V70 places strong emphasis on photography. The device features a triple rear camera system led by a 50MP ZEISS main camera and a 50MP ZEISS super telephoto lens capable of 3× optical zoom and up to 10× digital zoom.

The telephoto camera uses a periscope-style design intended to increase zoom capability without making the phone thicker. Optical image stabilisation is also included to help reduce blur in low-light scenes.
According to vivo product specialist Tasmy, the camera system was designed to capture challenging situations such as concerts and stage performances. She said concerts are among the most difficult scenarios to photograph because audiences are often far from the stage and lighting conditions change constantly.
To address this, the V70 introduces a new AI Stage Mode that works together with the telephoto lens to capture performers clearly from a distance.
The camera also supports ZEISS multi-focal portrait modes including 85mm portrait and 100mm close-up portrait, designed to recreate the look of professional photography lenses.
On the front, the phone includes a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus for group photos and video calls.
AI tools for editing and travel photos
Beyond the hardware, vivo has integrated several AI tools designed to simplify photo editing directly on the device.

These include features that can remove unwanted objects, expand images, enhance colours or adjust lighting conditions in photos.
One feature called AI Magic Weather can modify skies in photos by transforming cloudy scenes into brighter ones. Other editing tools allow users to remove passersby or automatically adjust the composition of an image.
Slim design with brighter displayThe V70 adopts a new design language with a flat display and aerospace-grade aluminium frame. The device measures just 7.59mm thick and weighs 194g.
On the front is a 6.59-inch Oled display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness, designed for clear viewing even under strong sunlight.
Security is handled by a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that can unlock the device even when the user’s fingers are wet.
The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Battery and software upgrades
Powering the device is a 6,500mAh battery paired with 90W fast charging, designed to support extended use across photography, gaming and media consumption.
The V70 runs on OriginOS 6, vivo’s latest software platform, which introduces AI-powered tools such as real-time captions, natural language search and contextual suggestions through a floating interface called Origin Island.
The system is expected to receive four generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security updates.

The vivo V70 is now available in Malaysia starting from RM1,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model, RM2,199 for the 12GB + 256GB version and RM2,599 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.
