Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry is monitoring Mexico’s security situation, advising citizens to stay vigilant and follow local authorities’ instructions.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the volatile security situation in Mexico.

The ministry, known as Wisma Putra, stated that its embassy in Mexico City has issued advisories urging Malaysians in the country to remain vigilant and exercise caution.

“Malaysians are also advised to adhere to instructions issued by the local authorities,” it said in a statement.

The ministry’s foremost priority is the safety and well-being of Malaysian citizens abroad.

The embassy confirmed that no Malaysians were involved in or affected by the recent incidents of violence.

These incidents followed a security operation by local authorities across several Mexican states.

Wisma Putra said it will continue to monitor developments and remain in contact with relevant local authorities.
