Iskandar Puteri boosts smart city capabilities with Samsung’s 19.35m visual system

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Samsung Malaysia has partnered with the Iskandar Puteri Command and Control Centre (IPCCC) to deploy Malaysia’s longest Samsung The Wall, a 19.35-metre visual display system aimed at strengthening real-time city monitoring and enhancing smart city operations.

The installation is expected to improve coordination and response capabilities by enabling authorities to process information more efficiently across public safety and urban management functions.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Charles Kim said command and control centres play a vital role in supporting authorities in responding to increasingly complex and fast-moving situations.

“Command and control centres play a critical role in helping city authorities respond effectively to complex, real-time situations.

“At IPCCC, our focus was to support the government in delivering a visual system that enables information to be viewed clearly, understood quickly and acted upon with confidence.

“By enhancing visibility and situational awareness, teams are able to operate more efficiently and make informed decisions that ultimately benefit the public,” he said.

Located in Johor, the IPCCC functions as a centralised operational hub where authorities manage multiple functions including real-time security surveillance, traffic monitoring, environmental data tracking and coordinated incident responses.

By integrating various streams of information into a single platform, the centre aims to improve decision-making speed, strengthen collaboration among agencies and enhance city management efforts.

The project, first conceptualised in 2023, forms part of the Iskandar Puteri City Council’s broader smart city agenda and aligns with Malaysia’s Smart City Framework under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), which focuses on data-driven governance, urban resilience and public safety enhancement.

At the centre of the command facility is Samsung The Wall, designed to support mission-critical operations through high-resolution displays capable of delivering seamless visual consistency across multiple data feeds.

The system enables personnel to monitor security, traffic and environmental conditions simultaneously, improving situational awareness while reducing response times and operator fatigue.

Measuring 19.35 metres in length and 2.7 metres in height, the display is equipped with ultra-fine microLED technology, offering enhanced colour accuracy, contrast and uninterrupted visuals without visible bezels.

Samsung said the technology allows operators to process large amounts of complex information quickly, supporting faster and more precise responses in increasingly interconnected urban environments.

The collaboration also builds on Samsung’s previous involvement in smart city infrastructure projects across Malaysia, including an LED installation at Perbadanan Putrajaya in 2018.

Following the earlier project, Samsung worked closely with stakeholders to develop a system specifically tailored to the operational requirements of a modern command and control centre.

The company said the latest deployment reflects its ongoing collaboration with government agencies in advancing smart governance, improving public safety and strengthening operational efficiency.

Through the partnership, both parties aim to support the development of more connected, responsive and resilient urban environments for communities in and around Iskandar Puteri.
